Consider how the wild flowers grow ~ Luke 12:27
Illustration of the Month
.jpeg)

Continuing with my 'Wives of Henry VIII' collection, here's my latest illustration, Catherine Howard.
Tragically executed at only 19, I wanted to emphasise her youth by giving her a white dress, and leaving her hair down. Holding her letter to Thomas Culpepper (that would inevitably be both of their undoings), she stands under a stain glass depicting the Tudor rose (her own personal seal). A deep red background, to contrast with the white dress and add drama to the painting.
Painted with acrylics.
